Class Descriptions:
Preschool - This fun and interactive class is for children 3-4 years old. Your dancer will learn the basic positions and steps of ballet & tap. This 45-minute class will help enhance their memory, listening skills, and creativity. Through the enjoyment of this class, your dancer will become more coordinated and will learn to express themselves.
- Combo - In this hour class, your 5-6 year old will start to build self-esteem as their knowledge of dance grows. There are two different classes offered, ballet & tap or ballet & jazz. In ballet, they will learn positions and basic steps. While in tap, their sounds will become more rhythmic and distinct. In jazz, your dancer will get an introduction to the art while moving to their favorite music.
- Ballet - A classical form of movement, which includes specific terminology and exercises, that will take place at barre or center floor. Body placement, posture, balance, flexibility, and coordination are stressed in this class. Ballet training is the base to your dancers education.
- Jazz - This upbeat, energetic style of dance follows in tune with the popular music of today. It is a fusion between classical ballet and modern, along with a twist of your own personal style. In this class, your dancer will learn strong technique and stretches along with various progressions of leaps and turns.
- Lyrical - Dancers will fuse together their knowledge of jazz and ballet technique to express themselves to contemporary music. They will learn the emotion behind their dancing and how to tell a story with their creative movement. Along with expressing themselves emotionally, they will develop control and balance in their movement.
- Tap - Your dancer will learn rhythm, musicality, and coordination while making percussive sounds with their feet. They will learn the proper tap technique through barre exercises, creative movement, and center floor studies.
- Hip-Hop - This upbeat class is perfect for the dancer that wants to let loose and have fun! Your dancer will learn hard hitting and smooth rhythm, along with distinct precision in their muscle memory. They will learn the latest styles of hip-hop all to their favorite music.
West Chester Dance Expressions is celebrating it's 6th season of dance in the Chester County Area. We are committed to providing an environment that is both positive and inspirational. We encourage all of our students to excel on and off the stage, by providing the best opportunities for our students to grow and learn with confidence.
